For
the first time in 25 years, London will have a chess tournament with
the world’s best players. From December 10 to 17, 2009 a single
round-robin with eight players (five world-class grandmasters and three
English players) will be held in the capital of the United Kingdom. The
tournament boasts a minimum prize fund of € 100,000 and has applied for

official statement, Bessel Kok and Pavel Matocha are announcing the
withdrawal of Karlovy Vary, where the 6th and last GP was to take place

In January this year one of the world's greatest chess geniuses, Bobby
Fischer, died. He was 64 and had lived a turbulent life, fraught with
trials, tribulations – and love for chess. Fischer is gone, but his
memory and legend live on, even in the pages of the biggest newspapers,

says the terse statement put out by the many-year manager of Vladimir
Kramnik. Carsten Hensel, who was directly responsible for the
organisation of World Championship matches (Kramnik-Leko,
Kramnik-Anand) and the computer match Kramnik-Deep Fritz, parts company
